Following the Black Lives Matter protests this summer, many professional athletes across sports leagues used their platforms to bring attention to racial injustice and police brutality in the United States. “This is about equality all in all, and it’s not yours, it’s not mine. It’s ours,” WNBA star Candace Parker of the Los Angeles Sparks told HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryan Gumbel” correspondent Jon Frankel. The WNBA has been vocal about social injustice for years, and other leagues are now following suit. Chris Conley of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars joins Parker and Frankel to discuss why more athletes are less reluctant to use their voices in 2020, and what it would take to see progress and create measurable societal change.
