Get on the Bus: Mobilizing K-12 School for Climate Action

Setup

With nearly 100,000 public schools across the country, America’s K-12 schools are among the largest consumers of energy in the public sector — and could be a massive driver of climate solutions. They operate the nation’s largest mass transit fleet, occupy over 2 million acres of land, and serve more than 7 billion meals each year. Decarbonizing our schools also creates opportunities for more than 50 million students (1 in every 6 Americans) to learn about climate solutions firsthand. Commissioners from the Aspen Institute’s K12 Climate Action initiative will discuss how the overlooked education sector can be mobilized for action on climate change.
