Aaron Huey

Founder and Creative Director, Amplifier; Photographer

Aaron Huey is the founder and creative director of nonprofit design lab Amplifier and a National Geographic photographer, director, and Explorer. He has photographed over 40 features for National Geographic magazines, including several cover stories, and has pioneered projects for National Geographic in virtual and augmented reality. Through Amplifier, Huey is building a series of augmented-reality projects intended to transform K-12 history lessons, clothing, street art, and buildings into interactive stories. Also known for his 3,349-mile solo, self-supported walk across the United States in 2002, Huey has spoken on the TED stage and won the 2019 Webby Award for Best Interactive Design for his VR exploration of Bears Ears National Monument.
