Bill Browder is founder and CEO of Hermitage Capital Management and head of the Global Magnitsky Justice Campaign. A financier, his firm was the largest foreign investor in Russia until 2005, when he was denied entry for exposing corruption there. Browder’s fight for justice began when his Russian lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky, was tortured and died in prison after uncovering fraud by Russian government officials. His global campaign to impose visa bans and asset freezes on human rights abusers resulted in the 2012 Magnitsky Act in the U.S. and a global bill in 2016. Browder wrote two books about his experiences: “Red Notice,” a New York Times best-seller, and “Freezing Order: A True Story of Russian Money Laundering, Murder and Surviving Vladimir Putin’s Wrath.”
