Carla Fredericks is CEO of The Christensen Fund, supporting Indigenous peoples’ rights, dignity, and self-determination. She has provided support to the UN Special Rapporteur on Rights of Indigenous Peoples, served as counsel to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in opposition to the Dakota Access Pipeline, assisted the Maya of southern Belize in affirming their land rights, and developed a model for Indigenous-driven consent processes and remedy. Previously, as a University of Colorado Law School faculty member, Fredericks relaunched the First Peoples Worldwide interdisciplinary program. She has authored numerous studies and papers for law review and policy journals. Fredericks is board chair of the Mashantucket Pequot (Western) Endowment Trust and a member of the Indigenous Peoples Advisory Group to the Decolonizing Wealth Project.
