Eric Lander

Eric Lander is president and founding director of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, a biology professor at MIT, and a systems biology professor at Harvard Medical School. He was previously a managerial economics professor at Harvard Business School. A geneticist, molecular biologist, and mathematician, Lander was a principal leader of the Human Genome Project from 1990 to 2003. He co-chairs the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, appointed by President Obama in 2008. Lander’s honors include the MacArthur Prize Fellowship, the Gairdner Foundation Award, the Albany Prize in Medicine and Biological Research, the Dan David Prize of Israel, and the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences.
