Kea Krause is a freelance science and nature writer. Her most recent piece for The Atlantic, "The Hunt for Wonder Drugs at the North Pole," documented twelve days aboard a research vessel in the Arctic Ocean following a team in search of microorganisms that could potentially lead to new antibiotics. Krause’s work has appeared in Gossamer, The CatapultLapham's Quarterly, The Believer, VICE, Broadly, and The Rumpus, among other outlets. Her piece, "What's Left Behind," was anthologized in The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2016 and The Best American Travel Writing 2016.
