Neal Katyal is the Paul and Patricia Saunders Professor of Law at Georgetown University and a partner at Hogan Lovells. A former acting solicitor general of the United States, he has argued 39 cases before the US Supreme Court, more than any minority attorney in US history. Most recently, Katyal argued the “travel ban” case on behalf of the state of Hawaii against President Trump in the US Supreme Court. His numerous distinctions include the Edmund Randolph Award (the US Justice Department’s highest civilian award) and the 2017 and 2018 Litigator of the Year by American Lawyer. Besides appearing on most American news programs, Katyal played himself on “House of Cards.”
