Sander Levin

US Representative (D-MI); Ranking Member, Health Subcommittee, House Committee on Ways and Means

Sander Levin is a member of the US House of Representatives. First elected in 1982, he represents Michigan’s 9th congressional district (D) and serves on the House Ways and Means Committee as ranking member of the Health Subcommittee. Levin chaired the Ways and Means Committee during consideration and passage of the Affordable Care Act, of which he remains a strong defender. His legislative work has also covered international trade policy, welfare reform, mental health, tax and economic growth policy, social security, and community anti-drug programs. Early in his career, Levin was assistant administrator of the Agency for International Development, served in the Michigan Senate, and had a private law practice.
