Stephen Friend

President and Co-Founder, 4YouandMe

Stephen Friend, the president and co-founder of 4YouandMe, studied genetic resilience and cancer biology before his current work on digital health and the return of human agency. At Dana Farber and MIT Friend’s team cloned the first human cancer susceptibility gene. In Seattle he co-founded Rosetta Impharmatics, which developed the RNA expression approaches to assess the aggressiveness of breast cancers. Friend is based at Oxford as a visiting professor of connected medicine. Current projects anticipate individuals following their clinical symptoms at times of metamorphosis using wearable devices uncoupled from companies that may use that information for commercial benefit. Research topics range from pregnancy and mental health to early detection of tumors and the effects of stress on diabetes and heart attacks.
